My Top 10 Movies / discussion

Updated: Nov 21, 2019

Imagine That There's A Zombie Apocalypse, and Your Job Was To Prepare 10 Movies For You and Your Apocalypse-Bunk-Mates To Watch For The Rest of Your Lives — Which Would You Choose?

Today it's time you find out whether you'd want me in charge of that job or another, like preparing the food stores or choosing what Kmart decor we'd want to decorate our bunker with:

Have you ever tried to decide what your top ten movies are? Just ten; no trilogies, no franchises, no honourable mentions, no short-cuts; just ten movies? Maybe you have, I definitely have before but i've never done it properly you know? I'd always cheat and, for example, say that all eight Harry Potter movies count as one spot.

Anyways, it's freaking hard okay, at least for me, I have SO many favourites!! How could I choose between my favourite rom-coms; How to Lose A Guy in Ten Days (not even a question, How to Lose Wins.) or Ten Things I Hate About You or even my favourite Lord of the Rings movie? In short, you can't, but I tried my absolute hardest to nail it down to just ten movies that I love more than others. These are the movies I'd save if my house set on fire, download illegally even if it meant getting a virus (maybe that's a bit too far, I think I love my macbook just a bit more) and will recommend highly to anyone who asks!!

If this interests you, onwards my friend!!

(also, a short PSA, before I continue; this discussion idea was suggested by Jacob, so, as requested, here's your credit. 🏅🏅🏅)

Numero 10:

Tangled:

Tangled, is the best Disney Princess movie; it's so fun and lovely and just, great. I love all the songs (and at last I seeeeeee the lighttttt) and I love all the characters (Maximus is the best though let's be real). I don't really have anything else to add to this other than; of course this made my list how could it not have?????

Numero 9:

The Grand Budapest Hotel:

This movie, is quite possibly the most visually appealing movie I have ever watched. Wes Anderson, the director, is seriously so talented and I lovelovelove the the amount of detail he includes in his movies but especially in The Grand Budapest! Just envision it, the most perfect colour palettes, the most symmetrical set design you've ever seen, perfectly timed comedy and many notable actors!!! Anyway, this movie is great and the story is equally as great, I love it. (also, Voldemort plays the main character and he's actually the funniest when he's not pretending to not have a nose.)

Numero 8:

Ladybird:

Please welcome the newest addition to my favourites; Ladybird!! I only watched this movie last week but it's seriously one of the best I've ever seen. I feel like a lot of 'coming of age' movies and stories all just feel the same however, Ladybird is such a nice, new fresh take on those movies. it's so realistic, raw, emotional and authentic. (through watching this movie I can say that the 'Too Faced' Waterproof Mascara lives true to it's waterproof title!)

Numero 7:

Dead Poet's Society:

Dead Poet's Society, is my favourite movie Robin Williams movie (yes, I like it even more than Aladdin and Jumanji (which are two other favourites of mine)). I think the story is so beautiful and heart-warming even though it's really sad (seriously, it is really sad, that's not me overreacting). Would recommend a tissue if you're to watch this movie, unless you're a monster and don't cry in movies (I cannot trust people who haven't at least cried once while watching a film).

Numero 6:

Coraline:

Does loving this movie make me strange? I absolutely love Coraline! It's so creepy and eerie and gritty and I never expected to love it as much as I do! Yes, I still get super creeped out by it but at the same time I enjoy it so much!! Also I've read the book by Neil Gaiman (a great author btw) and I think I actually prefer the movie! The visuals and animations also make it ten times more enjoyable (especially the scene with Bobinski's Circus of Mice in the Otherland).

Numero 5:

The Phantom of the Opera:

The Phantom will NEVER not make my favourite movies list. It is quite possibly my favourite movie-musical EVER, the more I watch it the more I love it plus, the songs are so so so beautiful (and depressing!)!

Numero 4:

The Notebook:

Now this is probably the most cliché movie on my list, don't all girls who love romance stories just love The Notebook. yes, yes they do. This movie will forever be my number one romance movie, it's so sweet and devastating and lovely!! Oh how I cry in this film!!!!

Numero 3:

Avengers: Infinity War:

This is one of the greatest movies ever!! I was hanging off the edge of my seat throughout the whole movie (I probably looked hilarious to everyone else in the movies that night; I was quite literally sitting in the STRANGEST positions, trying to cry as quietly and as discretely as possible (to no avail) all the while looking like a crazed woman). It's so awesome how Marvel handled this movie; balancing all those characters and the interweaving storylines into the 2 hours and 40 minute movie that is it. Forever will be the most stressful 3 hours of my life.

Numero 2:

The Fellowship of the Ring:

I love the Lord of the Rings Trilogy so much but for me, The Fellowship of the Ring is seriously the best. This movie (as well as the whole trilogy) will never get old for me, I think it's such a well done movie and I'm so happy that those books (that I still haven't read yet #fakefan) have got such awesome movies to follow them. Also the scene in the Fallen Dwarf Kingdom is legendary and so is the iconic scene with the Balrog ("you shall not pass!!!!!!!). Also, I would just like to point out that I used to be able to do the BEST Gollum impression you ever did hear but, unfortunately, I cannot do it no longer.

Numero 1:

The Goonies:

Will I ever not love The Goonies? This movie is 100% my favourite movie, I love everything about it. No matter how many times I watch it. This 80s classic is not lost to me, it's such a great movie and gosh I watch it at least a couple of times a year but it never gets old! I love the plot, the pacing, the jokes, the characters and the actors as well. And, another fun fact; I can quote the heckers out of this movie (and remember, always seperate the drugs)

Well, there you have it! My top-ten, holy-grail, absolute favourite movies of all time! While this is pretty much an ever-evolving list, these movies will always pretty much take the cake.

I hope you enjoyed this post! It was a bit different than my usual book review but I love writing discussions so there'll definitely be more of these in the future! That's all for now,

Kindest, Chloe xx
