My Thoughts Prior:
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is a book I've seen such great reviews on, which is really encouraging as many readers don't always agree. I think the synopsis of this book is really alluring and obviously, it looks like something I'm going to enjoy because it includes; a journalist, an Old-Hollywood actress and her story of rising to fame. These stories are ones that I love as it includes most of my favourite things so, I'm really hoping I enjoy this one!!
My Review:
"Never Let Anyone Make You Feel Ordinary"
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is an amazingly fantastic book that will entrance you from start to finish, I swear it. The Seven Husbands is about a very famous Hollywood Movie Star, Evelyn, who's legacy spanned from the 50s to the 90s. Her name always associated with a scandal and now, she's finally ready to come clean. To reveal the whole truth, the good, the bad and the ugly, of her life. To do this she hires a on-the-rise journalist writer, Monique, to help her write a biography about her life, and we begin to realize that her life was so much more than what she let on. Basically, if you're looking for a great (let me tell you again, GREAT) contemporary read than you need to read this book!!
The characters in this novel were so greatly fleshed out they felt as if they were real people. I genuinely thought about Miss Evelyn Hugo during the day thinking I had seen her movies or as if I had known her, and this only proves how great this book was even more! Now, beginning this book I had an inkling that I'd come to love Evelyn as a character and let me tell you, I did and i do. Evelyn is just such an outstanding character and person due to her oozing confidence, self-belief and her Slytherin prowess. I just love how unapologetic she is, how she is willing to do anything to get what she wants and to protect those she loves. There were also so many other characters I loved in this book, actually, I think I loved most of the characters in this book and it'd surely take all day to truly express my thoughts and feelings about them all. Let's just leave it at they were all exceptionally complex and thoughtful which made them feel all the more real which then made me love them more.
Taylor Jenkins Reid did an absolutely fabulous job writing this novel. I greatly appreciated how it jumped back and forth between Evelyn recalling her past and her encounters with Monique. I also really loved how unashamed the writing was, how you could clearly see how much work the author put into the book and that truly showed. The newspaper articles every once in a while were also I very cool edition to this stand-out novel.
I read this book in four days but I easily could of just binged it in one go. When I wasn't reading this book, I was thinking about this book. It was always floating around in my mind because it was that good! I feel as though this is a book everyone would love because I think that no matter who reads it, it will speak to everyone. This book has such a beautiful message of truth, not shying from yourself and embracing who you are but also embracing others for who they are also. It's been a while since I've loved a contemporary read as much as this and I think this story will be with me forever.
Thank you so much for reading my review! Your support means then world to me and I know that my posting schedule is very sketchy (judging from the fact that I dropped of the blogging-world for a good four months) but I promise I'm trying harder to improve! Life has been so crazy/good these past few months that I just couldn't find the time to write however, I think I'm back! I hope you enjoyed this review, I had a lot of fun reading this book and writing this review so please, PLEASE, go pick up this book and read it!
